Can I sit with you?
Can I cry in your arms?
Can I just be with you
While I process all this harm?
Are you willing to be silent?
Are you willing to be quiet?
Are you willing to just listen
And realize I don’t want to fight it
Your prophecies mean nothing
Your preaching makes me angry
Your words are only hurting
Even though they mean to love me
I know that God is here
And He is with me in the pain
I know that God can turn this loss
Into the greatest gain
But right now I want a shoulder
I want you to know how I feel
I want you to acknowledge
That all my pain is real
So, can I sit with you?
Can I cry in your arms?
Can I just be with you
While I process all this harm?
Are you willing to be silent?
Are you willing to be quiet?
Are you willing to just listen
And realize I don’t want to fight it
