To Grieve

Can I sit with you?
Can I cry in your arms?
Can I just be with you
While I process all this harm?

Are you willing to be silent?
Are you willing to be quiet?
Are you willing to just listen
And realize I don’t want to fight it

Your prophecies mean nothing
Your preaching makes me angry
Your words are only hurting
Even though they mean to love me

I know that God is here
And He is with me in the pain
I know that God can turn this loss
Into the greatest gain

But right now I want a shoulder
I want you to know how I feel
I want you to acknowledge
That all my pain is real

So, can I sit with you?
Can I cry in your arms?
Can I just be with you
While I process all this harm?

Are you willing to be silent?
Are you willing to be quiet?
Are you willing to just listen
And realize I don’t want to fight it

Straight and Narrow

Sometimes the road is steep
Sometimes the road is long
Sometimes the road will be lost and the way will seem wrong

Sometimes your body will get bruised
Sometimes your legs won’t go
Sometimes your feet will get wet trudging through the snow

Sometimes you will slip
Sometimes you will fall
Sometimes you’ll need to take a rest to get through it all

Sometimes you’ll want to give up
Sometimes you’ll wished you’d stayed
But I guarantee, in the end the view will take your breath away
