Happy Birthday TWR

Happy 61st Birthday TWR!

On February 11th, 1952, TWR was founded. Burdened for the people of Spain, TWR founder Dr. Paul E. Freed realized that radio would be ideal to reach those in that spiritually needy land. He discovered an open door to establish a missionary radio station in Tangier, Morocco. Spain is directly across the Strait of Gibraltar.

The first “Voice of Tangier” broadcast aired over a 2,500-watt transmitter on February 22, 1954. Programming began in two languages, Spanish and English. By January 1956, the station expanded by broadcasting to 40 countries in more than 20 languages.

Welcome back to the SPLRK blog.

Many changes have popped up in the Seal household.

  1. Ryan’s Dad and Mum, James and Eva, are moving to Wayne, Nebraska to Pastor a church. We are so excited for this opportunity for them. God has made everything so smooth. They had their house on the market for 4 days and they all ready have a contract on the house.
  2. I have been volunteering at the SET clinic for about 3 weeks now. My short experience has reinforced that a lot of nursing is teaching. My professors would be so proud of me. A man came into our evening clinic. He was doubled over in great pain and could barely walk. When I brought him back, he said that he was blocked up and hadn’t gone to the bathroom in days. He couldn’t eat or sleep. He was absolutely miserable. However, he didn’t want to go to the ER because he didn’t have any insurance. I was able to teach him simple things to do without drugs to help clean him out and help prevent constipation in the future. The doctor also gave him the drugs he needed to flush him out. It may seem trivial to you but to him it was a big problem we helped him with. Things that I find so simple to take care of are a real problem for people who simply don’t know how to take care of certain problems. This is just like what I will be doing with TWR. So many people in Africa just don’t know simple things that can make them sick such as being bit by a mosquito or drinking dirty water. They also don’t know that there are simple ways to keep themselves healthy such as putting up mosquito netting, and boiling their water before drinking it. My volunteering here has also reinforced the importance of the medical and spiritual messages that TWR broadcasts. Only when people know what is best, can they respond to it.

Romans 10:14-15 How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!”
