Does it Bleed

does it bleed

“My god is science!”
He said in self-reliance.
He succinctly explained
That everything is in our brains

He went on to say
“This method is the way!”
“For if you can’t observe it
You surely won’t preserve it!”

Since at God he couldn’t stare
He thought God wasn’t there
So he trusted in gravity
Denying God’s Majesty

Does it weep? Does it bleed?
Does it care for your needs?
Does it stir inside of you
To remind its love it true?

When you ponder all its ways
Does it give you cause for praise?
Can it make you feel?
Does it give you any zeal?

Is there anything to what you believe
Some deeper reason to which you cleave?
Or are you trusting in
Something that loves your sin?

Oh she believed in God alright
She prayed to him every night
And each day of the week
A new name she would speak

“Sometimes he’s Allah, sometimes Buddha,
Sometimes the God of love, sometimes the God of Judah.
Sometimes he’s the sun, sometimes he’s a tree
Sometimes he’s my dog, and sometimes he’s me!”

“What you call him is moot”
She said praying to a fruit
“He doesn’t mind does he?
As long as you’re warm and fuzzy”

Does he weep? Does he bleed?
Does he care for your needs?
Does he stir inside of you
To remind his love is true?

When you ponder all his ways
Does he give you cause for praise?
Can he make you feel?
Does he give you any zeal?

Is there anything to what you believe
Some deeper reason to which you cleave?
Or are you trusting in
Some god that loves your sin?

“I don’t really care”
He said with a bit of flair
“If God exists at all –
If he’s tall or if he’s small”

“What really matters most
Is that which I can boast:
The four yachts that I own,
All the money I often loan”

“Wealth will always feed me
And never will impede me
So I’ll worship Dollars, Pounds and Rands
And use them to fill my hands”

Does it weep? Does it bleed?
Does it care for your needs?
Does it stir inside of you
To remind its love it true?

When you ponder all its ways
Does it give you cause for praise?
Can it make you feel?
Does it give you any zeal?

Is there anything to what you believe
Some deeper reason to which you cleave?
Or are you trusting in
Something that loves your sin?

Jesus Wept, Jesus bled
For my soul he joined the dead
Suffering torture and scorn
So that I might be reborn

When I ponder all His ways
I can’t help but be amazed
For the God I’m trusting in
Loves me despite my sin

He’s my God and he’s real
He fills me with highest zeal
For Jesus saved my soul
Only he has made me whole.
